You requested ideas and methods to address problems of kids from various backgrounds and other factors. I would say that, the best thing to do sometimes is forget that you are older, or have more wisdom or are even the teacher and just listen. Sometimes kids need someone to just lesson while they express themselves.
If you can do that with an open mind you will know what to say and when to say it.
