Feliz aniversário. Happy burthday!
I haven't been on this site for a bit...just wanting to touch base...didn't mean to be rude.
Getting back to "good eats"...I guess I like a little of everything, but what I enjoy the most is what was usually around our table.
The main difference between Hungarian food and Mexican that I find is that Mexican is usually highlighted by refreshing, fresh raw flavours.
Even when it's cooked, it's usually for a minimum of time...unless you're looking at pulled pork or something of that nature.
Hungarian dishes I find usually have a deep smokey, stewed flavour.
-Not that the food has actually been smoked...but the deep rich rantas and paprika that is so common usually predominates most of the dishes I've tried.

Thank you for your comment :D You also looks so happy :)
Well, in English, (and I presume German -at least I think so), the Szekely People are known as Szeklers.
Though, like I said that my grandfather was born in Bekescsaba, his family and home was in Arad...if I remember correctly.
Now, Nagy Mama...I think she hailed from Nagy Varod.
I should "Google" the names of their respective towns and find out what new names they have been given.
It's an interesting think that you should refer to the idea of the 'melting pot'.
At home, growing-up, we'd have quite the mix of dishes at the supper table...tamales, tortillas, flan, csirkepaprikas, porkolt, galuska, macaroni and cheese, potato salad, hamburgers/hotdogs...man, oh, man!
It's a wonder that I can even fit in my pants these days!
I'm sorry that i've got to cut things a little short, but I have a social engagement besides a few more e-mails to return and I haven't even taken a bath yet!
Well, take it easy, dude.
Later!

Well, believe it or not, rumour has it that Erdely was full of Magyars at one time...or so I've been told! Ha!
Bekescsaba... my paternal line were all Szekelers, but that town, 'Bekescsaba', my grandfather was born there.
Good on ya!
