That sounds good. It's a shame your tutor moved away. Skype lessons sound like they might be hassle with bad internet, yes... Did you find any good courses yet? :)

I've not been to Ueno, but I did stay in/near Tokyo (my train stop was tsurumi ichiba station). I honestly wish I could've spent more time on Tokyo, because I think there's still so much to see that I didn't get to as I was studying there at the time (for a month). :')

Hi Jake. :) How are you learning Japanese? Are you taking any courses for it? It's so hard to keep up with it if you're not in it actively. (I studied it for a while in college, but then I switched studies. I've forgotten way too much ._.') Where in Japan did you visit? What would you say was the best thing about it? :) (I visited back in '08, I'd really like to go again as well).
