About Me:

I'm reasonably intelligent, romantic and rather adventurous - an artist, a poet, perhaps a little bit of a writer as well - but most of all, perhaps a simple person who loves pondering things, or just looking up at the stars in wonder and awe at all that might be 'out there'.

I'm an idealist, a philosopher, a dreamer - but as I've survived a few years in the jungles and desert I think there must be a good bit of the realist in me too. I love life. I love traveling, I love meeting new people, listening to their thoughts, sharing my own.

I'm TRULY interested in what others have to say, in what they think - I find people's thoughts so fascinating, and would love to get mail from some intelligent, unique, original, or simply nice people. I love listening to people and discussing things. I find the exchange of ideas so interesting and it teaches me so much.

For those who might be interested, my website is..

INDIA:
Oh, and one more thing - my friends already know this, obviously, but for anyone new, I'm staying in India for the moment, and might be here for quite some time.

I'm used to oriental countries, of course, having spent quite some time in Tibet, and more than a year in Myanmar, as well as shorter periods in other nations.

India interests me because it is a fascinating land to explore, but it's also a very nice place to live in because people here are very kind and friendly and extremely hospitable. And it's a very civilized place in some ways - I see children playing alone in the parks, with nothing to fear, and people leaving the doors of their apartments wide open. A refreshing change from many cities I've been in, really.

And ultimately, a country is it's people, so India is a wonderful country, and that's high praise from someone whose seen a lot of different lands.

Requests:

Creative geniuses, brilliant intellects, or kind hearts...   And, if such would descend from Olympus, they who incorporate all three...

Language Exchange Requests:

Will help you all I can.

Interests, Hobbies, etc.:

Reading good books, reading and writing poetry, writing short stories, traveling, stargazing, sculpture, painting, acting & the theater, the martial arts, traveling, making friends

Favorite Music:

The classics and various opera.

Favorite Movies:

I've been watching Pride and Prejudice recently - the one with Colin Firth..  and I had lots of fun re-reading the book and comparing the movie to it. It compares very well indeed - not many movies based on books truly do the originals justice.

Other movies I like...
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Paris Je T'Aime, The Unbearable Lightness of Being - in a lighter vein, Forrest Gump, finding Nemo and others. I also liked Ghost, and some episodes and movies from Star Trek.

I also liked 'The Last Samurai,' though of course from the historical point of view it is little more than a fairy-story. But I liked the way feudal Japan is romanticized in the movie - it may not be realistic, but it is beautiful, as a castle in the clouds may be beautiful.

Favorite TV Shows:

T.V.???? Is that some kind of alien blinding device? JUST kidding.

Favorite Books:

Russian authors like Tolstoy and Dostoevsky, and others. Also the plays and stories of George Bernard Shaw, the works of Shakespeare, Jane Eyre, Sherlock Holmes, Lolita - actually, if a book is at all worth reading, I'll read it. I'm an omnivorous reader, I'm always reading something.

Favorite Quotes:

"Amare et sapere vix deo confiditur."
To be in love and to be wise is not granted even to a god. Virgil, I think.

"Nec Deus intersit nisi dignes vindice nodus incederic.."
Let not a god intervene unless a knot occur worthy of the untier..

"Nobody deserves our tears. And those who deserve them never will make us cry."

"What is sorrow? Sorrow is to have eyes that look beyond the horizon and through time, to know the wonder of what will be - and to know also that it will be long after one is dust. Sorrow.. is the love of the distant future in the prison of the now."
                               - Just a thought that occurred to me.

"I love English not because it is a beautiful language - it probably isn't. But I love it because it is the language I hope to help make beautiful."
                               - me again

"Within the circle of his sword, a warrior is king.."
