No. We don't have a word of "Hikumo" in Japanese, so in general conversation it would never appear.
I think Hikumo sounds good as Internet name. Some Japanese people use a creative name like it on the internet.

I think it is not a swear word.
Perhaps, if a Japanese use it as a name, some Japanese people feel it just a little bit childish, because it sounds like a character name in the manga or anime, but if foreigner uses it, maybe it sounds cute :)

Yes "fire cloud", "Hikumo" would be "火雲".
In hiragana it is "ひくも"

As you thought, 火 (can you read kanji on your PC? if not, I'm sorry.) means "fire", and it is pronounced as "Hi".
雲 means "cloud" and it is pronounced as "Kumo".
There is no word such as Hikumo in Japanese, but as a name on internet, I think it is nice :)
