Have you ever experimented with digital recording or virtual instruments. Ever since I stopped playing with a band I write all my own music, and for the instruments I'm lacking I just write them on piano and they sound like real drums and bass. I could teach you, and it would help until you find a real bass player. Message me your e-mail and I'll send you 2 songs. You would never know the drums and bass were virtual instruments.
