Ah yeah I know what you mean, but I don't quite agree. I guess it really depends on who you talk to when it comes to being a musician and it being respected. Personally I think it is very respectable, because at the end of the day there really are much worse things that we could be doing. People have just become so use to us being there that we are taken for granted. Almost like faulty sensory awareness. If we disappear we would be missed :)

There was a time when classical guitar was more widely appreciated, but as crowds grew at clubs and more volume was needed the electric guitar took over as it developed starting in the early 1930's. Run on sentence I know lol. I am also a full time student so I understand.

Finding a spot in the classical guitar area can be rather difficult. I am about part time most weeks with my internship, but viola keeps me extremely busy. There are 3 viola majors and we have to keep up with 20+ violins, and 16 cellos. Needless to say the school sinks it claws into me and I always find myself with a lot of demands for viola parts. :/

I can't say that I have ever really ended up with a headache from it, but after I thought up the name it just stuck. They are cute. Group classes are the difficult things to handle.

You should try it! The violin feels like a toy after playing the viola so I have started calling it a squeak toy lol. This is also in combination with the fact that when I work on violin it is with students ages 3-12. Squeak, squeak, squeak lol
