Well, Marseille is a big city, with a big cultural mix and history. Everything is accessible with the bus or the metro and there is a lot of activity. But if you want a nice place to live, it might be a little expensive (but I don't know your financial situation !).
And I don't really have a favourite city. I'm in Marseille because I study here, but if someday I need to move to another city or even country, I won't mind at all.
