Just watched "The Equalizer" (part one) and realized that I have some questions for the filmmakers. Alright, I understand that portraying my nation as villains is an overall norm, but the biggest disappointment for me was that it was not even done right!
Oh, I love bloopers and inconsistencies there!
From absolutely awful tattoos that no one would accept to have (like "don't touch me if you want to live" (Не тронь меня, если хочешь жить) or "Death, Terror, Darkness" (Смерть, Террор, Темнота) to complete disillusion on how criminal groups work. The plot is bad, the casting is awesome, and the effects are just spot on.
How it should actually work:
1) Strict hierarchy. You are in the group after all. If you do not obey orders - You are not a part of the group, i.e. group does not need you. (That would ruin the main plot twist, but well, it's more realistic than completely forgetting about the orders you receive to go check up on what's up with the light (sorry for spoilers).
2) Tattoos. Oh boy, it's a funny one. Prison tattoos are a thing, yes, but they only work for actual prisoners. Why does everyone have these? Were these people sentenced all together long before the plot? Probably not. I have a problem regarding cyrillics on tattoos. If you don't know how to do it right - don't do it at all. We get it, it's a feature of this specific criminal group.
Just because of this, every villain in this film feels like he's an alcoholic having liver failure and definitely not a villain.
3) Why do mercenaries not use their lasers/flashlights? The climax scene looks exceptionally bad, the bad guys are not mercenaries, they're just guys from a local gym that try playing laser tag for the first time. They also tend to forget they are actually a group that has actual communication methods.
4) And my final point. If you really want to portray my nation as villains, please don't forget at least to give us our weapons. Contact Brandon Herrera so he could lend you some Russian arms or something. Everyone knows how deeply we love our local weapon manufacturing, so leaving the main antagonist an MP5 (and giving Rob a scorpion in the end) is more criminal than all the criminal scenes of this film all together.

Can't wait to watch a part two! And a part three afterwards!

What is your favorite film? What about the most atrocious film?
Have you watched any films that portray your nation as villains?
