About Me
Dhanushka, 26, Kandy. Spent 17 years in Brunei, now navigating Sri Lankan life with varying degrees of success and two dogs who serve as my board of directors (they're harsh but fair).

Been to Malaysia and Singapore during my Brunei years - got to explore a bit of Southeast Asia before life got complicated.

The situation: Recovering gaming addict who traded raids for actual running, virtual achievements for real ones (still miss the loot drops though). Depression and ADHD are along for the ride. The dogs think I'm doing okay, which is basically peer review.

Daily routine: Wake at ungodly hours , run around lakes while the dogs judge my form, read excessively, overthink professionally, stay healthy-ish, study for exams, debate geopolitics with myself, appreciate aircraft from the ground (because they're beautiful and anyone who disagrees is wrong), and maintain my position as third-in-command of this household.

Currently: Studying hard, managing depression/ADHD (work in progress), trying to become the person the dogs already think I am (the bar is surprisingly high).

Not here for: Romance (life's a dumpster fire, let's extinguish that first), scammers (I'm broke, wrong tree, the dogs will know), people who ghost, or anyone expecting motivational poster energy. I'm sardonic, not inspirational.

Looking for: Real humans. Book nerds. Horror fans. LitRPG readers who get the appeal of stat screens. Geopolitics enthusiasts who can debate military strategy. Travel story swappers. People who think exploring (places, ideas, cuisines) is the point of living. Anyone who appreciates that planes are objectively beautiful.

Fair warning: I'm honest to a fault, humor skews dark, response times vary with brain chemistry, and I will absolutely send postcards of Sri Lankan temples with sardonic commentary. The dogs vouch for me though, so I must be doing something right.

If you're genuine and interesting, let's talk. If you're boring or a scam, bugger off. Haven't got the time or patience for nonsense.
Requests
Mostly looking for postcards from interesting places, but also open to actual letters if you're into that old-school correspondence thing (no promises on response speed - ADHD is real, but I'll get there).

If you want to swap travel stories, book recommendations, or just talk about life's absurdities through written words, I'm here for it.
Language Exchange Requests
Happy to practice English via text/messages with anyone learning it (not comfortable talking over phone - prefer written communication).

Currently learning Russian and French at beginner level (very beginner, don't expect much).

Also speak some Sinhala but grew up abroad so it's not fluent.

If you want to practice English through messages/emails/postcards, or teach me Russian/French via text and can handle my terrible grammar, hit me up.

Prefer written communication over voice - gives me time to think and respond properly (ADHD brain appreciates the pause button).
Hobbies & Interests
Reading obsessively: Viktor Frankl, Marcus Aurelius, Stormlight Archive, Malazan, Warhammer 40K (finished entire Horus Heresy main series), LitRPG from Royal Road, H.P. Lovecraft, horror, geopolitics. Currently deep into Russo-Ukrainian conflict's political/economic/military strategy aspects.

Running therapy at dawn, hiking, stargazing, fishing (badly but peacefully), cooking foreign food experiments and eating em, exploring whatever seems interesting, nature, history's weird corners.

Music: Rock, metal (Avantaria, DragonForce, Meat Loaf, Twisted Sister), Avicii, 80s/90s classics, classical (Bach, Tchaikovsky), epic orchestral (Two Steps from Hell), Owl City.

Shows/Movies/Anime: Psych (all-time favorite), The IT Crowd, anime like Psycho-Pass, Death Note, Berserk, Grimgar, SukaSuka. Studio Ghibli films. Old action classics (Predator, Die Hard). Childhood nostalgia hits (Free Willy, Air Bud).

Aircraft appreciation - they're engineering poetry and I will die on this hill.

Warhammer 40K lore enthusiast. The Emperor protects, but Imperial logistics are questionable. Trazyn the Infinite has the right idea about collecting things.

Travel experience: Spent 17 years in Brunei, been to Malaysia and Singapore. Want to see more of the world when life stabilizes.

Two dogs who are significantly better at life than I am. They don't overthink, it's genuinely impressive.
Favorite Music
Rock and metal: Avantasia, DragonForce, Twilight Force, Meat Loaf, Twisted Sister, Smash Mouth

Electronic: Avicii

80s and 90s music (the good era)

Classical: Bach, Tchaikovsky

Epic/orchestral: Two Steps from Hell

Owl City

Pretty much anything rock, metal, or epic soundtrack territory, with detours into electronic and classical

Eclectic taste - if it sounds good at 5am during a run or makes you think deeply, I'm probably into it
Favorite Movies
Old school action: Predator, Terminator, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon

Drama that hits: Shutter Island, Blood Diamond, We Were Soldiers, Braveheart

Childhood classics: Free Willy 1 & 2, All Dogs Go to Heaven, Because of Winn-Dixie, Air Bud (first one)

M. Night Shyamalan's Lady in the Water

Anime films: Genocidal Organ, Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade, anything from Studio Ghibli (all of it - Miyazaki is a master)

Pretty much anything with solid storytelling that doesn't treat the audience like idiots
Favorite TV Shows
Tv Series : Psych (all-time favorite), The IT Crowd, Mind Your Language, Chuck, Grimm

Anime: Psycho-Pass, Death Parade, Death Note, Berserk, Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash, SukaSuka (WorldEnd),Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO - absolute classic and all time favourite)

Don't watch a ton of TV anymore (recovering gaming addict being cautious about screen time) but these are the ones worth mentioning
Favorite Books
Man's Search for Meaning - Viktor Frankl (read it three times, still finding new meaning)

Meditations - Marcus Aurelius

The Stormlight Archive - Brandon Sanderson (Life before death, strength before weakness, journey before destination)

Malazan Book of the Fallen Series - Steven Erikson

The Kingkiller Chronicle - Patrick Rothfuss (still waiting for book three since highschool)

Warhammer 40K: The Infinite and the Divine, Knights of Macragge, Gaunt's Ghosts series, the entire Horus Heresy main series (yes, all of it)

Gotrek and Felix series (fantasy adventure done right)

H.P. Lovecraft - cosmic horror at its finest

LitRPG from Royal Road - whatever catches my fancy (progression systems make sense unlike real life)

Used to read Japanese light novels but got bored by how juvenile most of them are

Currently reading about the Russo-Ukrainian conflict's military/political strategy

Horror (Stephen King, cosmic, psychological - all of it)
