Hi, I'm Daniel. I have actually been on this site for years and have made significant friendships here over the years. Sadly, my old account was suspended without recourse or even an e-mail of explanations. Anyway I'm back!

I am a teacher from Canada and have worked almost 10 years in Indonesia.

I am looking to make friends from around the world, and can converse in French, English and Indonesian (to some degree!).

In following with the polymaths I admire, my interests are varied and ever-expanding.

Philosophy, History, Politics and all of that heady stuff.

I also discovered late that I love traveling and exploring, and that has taken much of my free time in the last few years.

I am a huge music fan, and I play guitar. I have also stopped buying CDs for the same reason as I did books... but I do still have a small collection of classic LPs.

I am an avid reader and have walls full of books, tho I have been slowing down on buying physical books in favor of electronic reads. I still love the feeling of holding a book in my hands, but I cannot take my library with me around the world!

I read mainly non-fiction:  Philosophy, epistemology, politics, history...
I also like reading classical literature (Homer, Virgil, Marcus Aurelius...), 19th century novels and poetry, modern non-fiction and I even have a few comic books!
