Histories of the South, like Francis Simpkins butler's master work, Clement eaton (history of the old south, a history of the southern confederacy, the growth of southern civilisation), the origin of southern radicalism is decent, revolutionary and civil war books, dewitt's history of South Carolina and Georgia before the United States is something i am currently reading, The Barber of Natchez, The Strange Career of Jim Crow, Charleston! Charleston!: a history of a Southern city and Myth and Southern History. are a few (but not all) that i have read or am currently reading.
cultural books about the South (Dixie debates, Carolina Gold rice, A Treasury of Southern Folklore and the myths of the cherokee are some books that i have read there).
Chinese History and culture books (notably the history of imperial china and modern china series') and adeline yenmah's book about chinese proverbs.
Iranian history and culture (various and difficult to list. Axworthy's books, various american political books from both the neocon and neolib blocs, Khomeini's biography by Baqer Moin, a shah biography by miladi, Baer's books about Iran and the greater middle east, all the shah's men by kinzer,Roger Savoy's history of the Safavids, Medieval iran by David Morgan, and 2 books about the iran-iraq war, to name a few).
