Hi, I write this to you to raise awareness of the tragedy of comfort women, who were forced to serve as sex salves for Japanese Military. The term 'a comfort woman', in fact, is a euphemism for a provocative word, a sex slave. However, what is more provocative and shocking the adversity of comfort women. During the World War 2, Japanese military had established a rape center all around the places where they resided. The rape center was first established in China, in a bid to fulfill Japanese Army's sexual needs. However, as the war progressed and the battle field was expanded to the entire pacific region, the centers were established all around the pacific region with the support of Japanese government. Thousands of women from countries including but not limited to Korea, Taiwan, China, the Philippines, were kidnapped and drafted to the centers and sexually abused by the Japanese military. If the women refused or resist to serving as sexual tools, they had to face death. The innocent women,who were teenagers or young women, were pushed into the bottomless pit of devastation that was created by the Japanese Military. Even after the war, the physical and psychological injuries and traumas they got tortured them. They are now old women who are, unfortunately, on the verge of death, which supports the reason why Japan's apology needs to be made as soon as possible as well as why I need your attention.
This comfort women issue is NOT a matter of politics or diplomacy. This is a matter of HUMAN RIGHTS. Therefore, I would like to draw all of your attention to Japan's infringement of human rights. Your attentions and initiatives will be very appreciated and helpful to encourage the Japanese government to admit its malicious act in the past and offer official and proper apology to the victims not only in Korea, but all around the world.
