I write across Chinese platforms, with an audience of several hundred thousand. Thanks to catching the wave of the internet era—and a bit of modest diligence—I've now reached a mild level of FIRE. My current work mainly involves remotely managing a few small physical stores I’ve invested in, occasionally updating content on my own accounts, and helping Chinese internet companies with content and marketing strategy. I may have some insights into online content creation, literature and art, as well as personal growth and independent thinking.
My writing tends to center around reflective thought and internal narrative, occasionally extending to reviews of books, films, and business phenomena.
For me, writing is a way to articulate the complex and ever-shifting version of myself. I use language to organize the thoughts, feelings, and structures in my mind—it's how I counter the dullness of life and keep my inner balance. Just like some people run, and others turn to alcohol, writing isn’t anything special. For me,
it’s simply a habit.
The ideal way to connect, in my view, is with sincerity, curiosity, openness, and depth. But conversations between people often depend on a bit of timing and chemistry—so let’s just go with the flow. You’re welcome to talk with me about culture, history, art, politics, or the many different ways we perceive and make sense of the world. Films, books, and music are also great topics to start with.Because the Chinese internet blocks access to foreign websites, I never really made a habit of climbing over the wall. It’s only in the past few months that I’ve started consciously trying to connect with people from other countries and explore foreign platforms.
So honestly, I don’t have a deep understanding of how people in different parts of the world think.
But I do have to say this—on this app, when those “girls” who’ve just registered a few hours ago enthusiastically try to strike up a conversation with me… come on, spare me the script. I’ve been online for 20 years. I’m really not your target.
Language is fragile and limited—it can’t even express a tenth of my complex soul. So go ahead, speak freely. I welcome all kinds of conversation, and very little truly unsettles me.If I’ve ever missed your message, it’s usually not intentional— I was probably just busy with work, or it slipped my mind at the time. I’ll end with a couplet I wrote myself:
进退若非人所愿
蹉跎无碍我之心
Requests
Sincere enough, twisted enough,
or talkative enough
—just one of those is enough.
After all, we’re all just human samples.
