About Me
So about me? Well I'm Rebecca, my family lived in Maine when I was born, but I was pretty young when we left so I don't remember it much from back then.
I've lived in Los Angeles since I transferred here back in 06, not really a city person, or a West Coast person for that matter. But I'd say after 15 years I'm used to it, or at least as much as I'm realistically going to get.

I grew up in Colorado City, AZ, which amusingly is neither a city, nor in the state of Colorado, funny huh? Anyway, if you're not familiar with it, lucky you!
I come from what most would call a 'big family', not necessarily big by the standards of where I'm from, but big by most people's standards. Despite that I'm really only in contact with about 5 of them, the rest of them and I kind of drifted apart for various reasons; skewed religious views, personal conflicts, indifference, life in general. There are some I choose not to associate with, some who choose not to associate with me and some in-between who don't want to be seen as 'picking sides'.
I had a mostly happy childhood, if rather sheltered and simple, and at that time I was close to my family as a whole. Like most people who had no other frame of reference, I initially thought my childhood was happy and normal. As I got older however I realized I was quite different from them and their views so I developed my own. I'm definitely the 'black sheep', or biggest outlier among them anyway.

Over time I made some close friends who I'd come to consider family, most of them from college or from early on in my career, a few random people from the same background as mine. I like to think of it as me creating the family I'd never really had growing up.

Life's interesting! When you're a kid and bad things happen, you think someone'll come and save you, since I never got that I decided I'd be that person instead. Now that's a rather unrealistic or at least a highly idealistic view of what law enforcement is, but that's what lead to me deciding to set out on that path.

I'm unique in some ways, I never used a computer until I was in college, I never used social media until about 3 years ago when some of my friends talked me into it, I didn't learn to drive or even ride a bike until I was 19, I never had a 'normal' relationship until I was in college.
I'd consider myself to be an introvert, hence my foray into 'making friends through technical means'. I've always believed a person can never have too many friends.
In spite of this however I'm not someone who's a social media fan, I use Facebook occasionally for family/friend related purposes but that tends to top out at a few hours a week max. Beyond that other social media doesn't appeal to me; Twitter seems pointless, Instagram is popular with photographers and 'look at me' types, WhatsApp seems to be for people that forget their phone makes calls and texts already without needing an external app for it, and LinkedIn is more business related.
I also don't care for 'reality' television, Kardashians or anything related to them, politics, religion or any other general nonsense. So if any of those is a deal breaker please use that information accordingly, as I would in all likelihood be 'boring' by most people's standards.

I've known I was lesbian since I was around 8, though I didn't know what it was called at the time. As you can perhaps imagine, growing up in a fundamentalist family, and community, this wasn't something that I was able to bring up, or that would have been nurtured or even tolerated if I had. My family, like most where I lived, were homophobic, and averse to anything outside of their 'norms', so I kept it to myself. My wife Gina and I have been together since 2007 and married since 2017. Marriage wasn't initially a concept we really cared about, but on a whim eventually decided to get married on our tenth anniversary.
She and I are a bit different, I'm more of a quiet persona and an introvert and she's more of a loud extrovert. I hate being the center of attention and she loves it, I like hiking and she likes shopping, I prefer vintage styles, she likes whatever the latest 'coolest' thing is. But we fit together perfectly, and compliment each other nicely.
Not that it needs explaining buy my wife and I are monogamous, so please keep questions about open relationships, threesomes, etc to yourself. None of those apply to us and we'd appreciate the basic respect of not being asked homophobic questions by random internet creeps.

I enjoy things like reading when I get time, travel (back when that was a thing), Gina and I enjoy hiking and walking as often as we can, I love nature and animals, especially horses, raccoons, squirrels, frogs, birds. I also enjoy shopping occasionally, not as much as Gina though, I like to joke that she has more shoes than the store does. All in all we're quite simple; we do things we enjoy and don't do things we don't. We don't care is things are popular, 'hip' or anything else, if it interests us it interests us, if it doesn't it doesn't.
I also enjoy occasionally playing baseball with colleagues, apparently I'm "the only one who can sorta pitch", which in all honesty isn't saying much but I enjoy the odd occasions we get to do it.

Advice:
1: If you want love, try a dating site,
2: If you want money, try employment,
3: If you want 'intimate' pictures, find an 'adult entertainment' website,
4: If you want a phone number, look in the yellow pages,
5: If you're an ignorant and weak-minded homophobe, try a church, they're often full of them,
6: If you don't respect all sexual orientations and gender identities equally, consult your parents on their choices in how they raised you,
7: If you want to preach, become a minister and find people who are actually interested, badgering people online doesn't count as 'preaching',
8: My name's Rebecca, any pet names 'baby', 'dear' etc. are not appropriate among strangers and if you use one in your first message you won't get a response.
9: Friendship = Yes, anything more = No! Got it? Sweet.
10: If you've read this far, it's unlikely you're a creep, a homophobe or a loser, so thanks for being one of the decent ones.

Important Note:
I'm not into fiction, so religion, deities, afterlife etc aren't interests of mine. People have the right to have whatever beliefs they want, just as I have the right not to hear about said beliefs. I often find when people try to preach it after I politely tell them I'm not interested, it leads to me retorting with the homophobia, ignorance, misogyny, double standards etc also associated with their religion and that causes a potential conflict. So by simply stating I don't discuss religion, it helps them avoid preaching to me so I can avoid questioning their character by what they believe and the double standards and ignorance they support by believing it.
Likewise I don't have a political preference, you can have any preference you like and as long as I don't have to hear about that's fine. But as with religion if I start getting preached to, I end up having to enquire why people support certain negative behavior and people often dislike that, so it's also a topic I don't discuss.
Requests
Please Note:
If you don't respect everyone of every sexual orientation and gender identity equally, don't contact me! My wife and I have dealt with enough homophobes for several lifetimes already.
I have zero tolerance for ignorance and cowardice such as homophobia, so if you can't show that simple level of respect, you're not someone I'd associate with.

Please Note:
I don't give my email address to strangers,
I don't give my phone number to strangers,
I don't accept video calls from strangers,
I don't send pictures to strangers,
If you're looking for any of those things, then it's best to look elsewhere, some things may be a possibility someday but only once I knew someone relatively well, well enough to ascertain they're not a creep or a homophobe for example.

I'm here looking to meet new people, form new friendships and also make some penpals, if this is you please feel free to contact me, if you are looking for anything else please look elsewhere.
