THE OLD MAN LOSES HIS COMPANION.
4:46 am
UTC on January 26, 2010
Got some bad news today, my dad told me his companion of 7 years had died.
To which I responded that he and his current wife (#3) have been married for over 20 years and together for close to 30.
"Not Rosemary" he replied "My dog Chili."
Which cleared up why he would refer to his wife as his companion.
And, also clarified if there was any confusion (there isn't) that Chilli meant a lot more to my dad than I do.
Maybe now with her out of the way I'll be back in line for some sort of inheritance.
He has one dog left (Kuma) so I'm sure the size of my future inheritance still lies in how long she hangs around.
The good news (there has to be a silver lining right?) is that the living dog is older than the one that just died so it shouldn't be long.
And, as I pointed out to the old man (affectionate name for dad) he's approaching birthday number 71 in less than a week so maybe he shouldn't dwell on the dog's death too long.
Too really miss Chilli you have to get the full picture of her.
Imagine a Chihuahua mixed with a Gremlin (the fictitious movie creature or the car either one will work) and then shove an air hose up her butt and fill until her toe nails are barely visible and the back of her neck looks like a package of hot dogs.
No, she didn't look like Rosie O'Donnell take it down a notch.
She looked like one of those balloons that fly overhead in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade or better yet the Oscar Meyer Weiner Mobile.
Whatever, she's free now, and here's hoping that there's a Heaven for dogs and they have lap band surgery there.

WRITER'S UPDATE...09 JULY 2010
It's been over 6 months and I haven't brought up that dog to him,
TOO SOON.
