My name is Donna, but that doesn't define me very well. I usually go by the name Panda though!
I'm a geek/nerd, and I loooove to read.
I've traveled a lot and I'm planning to continue seeing the world. I've never been anywhere ever, ever, ever longer than three years. I don't really know what it's like to have a "home" or anything like that.
I have dual citizenship of the Philippines and Canada, but I don't speak much Tagalog at all... :(
I like a lot of things I'm not good at (like martial arts, loving people, playing video games and playing the violin) and I'm pretty good at a lot of things I don't like (like maths).
I'm your everyday average person, although I think if you get to know me, you'll find some of the things I say and do are pretty out of this world.
I went through school really quickly (all public school, no homeschooling!) and I graduated from high school at 13 years old.
I once taught English at the high school and adult education level... but don't expect me to be a good speller; that's why I always have a dictionary in the classroom!. I know my basic grammar rules, though native English speakers are always cocky. :P
I enjoy teaching people English, so if you're looking for someone to teach you, I'll do my best!
I have a tendency to make odd noises when I talk, or when there is a lull in conversation. I like spinning in circles and squeaking or meowing. I'm... I'm pretty odd.
I'm a cancer and child abuse survivor, which I wouldn't normally tell people, but it relates to the way I act sometimes. I have awesome scars going all over my left thigh, my scalp and the back of my neck because of it. I consider them battle scars and I find them SUPER cool. I can't really have my hair too short because of them though. Darn. :(
I'm super afraid of the dark, and being alone. If I have to be physically alone, I will blare music really loud so that I don't feel like I am. I guess I'm a little dysfunctional and a little broken, but aren't we all?
I usually wear BIG, BIG glasses that eat up about half my face and it's not only a fashion statement... I actually do have poor vision. Hahah. I tend to either wear all black and white or really bright colours. I'm very much a "go big or go home" kind of person.
I, like most people, am made up of a whole bunch of contradictions. I'm super loud and extroverted most of the time, but if I order food I either whisper to the person taking my order, or I have to get someone else to order for me. I also get really shy over the telephone unless I know the person very well, and I panic!!!! when I get voicemail. I never know what kind of message to leave.
My favourite colour is red, but I don't really own many red things and if offered a choice between colours in things, I will usually pick blue.
I don't like chocolate ice cream very much. I'm a little weird when it comes to my eating habits. I will eat the crust from toast and pizza first, and I eat toast, pizza and cake upside down.
When I have multiple things on my plate, I will eat the things that I like least first, and save my favourites for last. Of course, usually someone comes along and goes, "Oh hey, you didn't eat that! You must not like it. Here, I will eat it for you." This is where I sigh, but don't really say anything. I'm a little passive like that.
I'm not sure what other things I should put in this section. It's very hard to think about it.
All in all, I guess I'm really looking to make some awesome and interesting friends.
My biggest secret is that I am actually a dinosaur. Shhh, don't tell!
Requests
Uhm... if you message me, please make an effort not to be overly creepy? It scares me. D:
Actually take the time to read through my profile before you ask me something. Much of the time, the answer is there. I know it's a lot to read, but if you're interested in me, do it! If you still have a question, feel free to ask! I will pretty much answer any question honestly. I don't bite... hard. (Unless you want me to, I guess...?)
If you message me and you want to flirt with me, to be honest, I won't notice it. My friends all tell me I'm incredibly oblivious to when people are interested in me, but I notice it right away when it is someone else, lol. Unless you come right out and say, "I want to **** your *****", prepare to be disappointed.
I want to clearly state I already have someone like <3 in my life. Sorry.
Also, if you visit my profile, please feel free to send me a message or post on my wall. It feels kind of lonely to be looked at but not talked to. @A@
Hobbies & Interests
I used to learn Taekwondo and I loved it! Unfortunately, I only made it up to yellow belt level.
I love the violin and I learned/"played" it for two years... I still attempt it now and then, but it's so hard without a teacher.
Since I was a child (my parents have been teachers all over the world and dragged me with them) I've traveled. I'm not the most traveled person in the world, but I have been to eight different countries not counting airport visits.
I love tea and tea parties. if there is such a thing as a "tea culture", I'm into that. Tea making is so relaxing and it takes time, unlike a pot of practically instant coffee.
I hate wearing socks in general, but I love wearing thigh high or knee high socks. I also wear eye-searingly bright tights on a regular basis.
I pride myself on being extremely tolerant. I guess I'm a bit of a "hippe chick". Free love for everyone as long as there is consent between two (or more) parties, save the planet, feed the hungry, and all that jazz. I tend to be a little defensive and opinionated on those views, so I'm sorry in advance if I offend anyone.
I love video games and "nerd culture" lol, but I'm terrible at strategy games, I can't stay in character long enough to roleplay, and I can only play video games if it is DDR or a game where I can button mash. D:
Favorite Music
Hm... I like music where there isn't any words, or that is in a language I can't understand. Is that weird? I guess it is... but it makes me feel like music is a universal language and I can also interpret my own meaning better. I've also been told I have alternative/pop tastes in music, so there you go.
Favorite Movies
Hm... I have a tendency to watch older movies from the "Golden Era of Hollywood", so films such as My Fair Lady. I love Mae West and Audrey Hepburn. Jack Lemmon's "Avanti" was a good movie too. In terms of more modern films, I LOVE anything by Studio Ghibli (I practically had a heart attack when they made a version of Howl's Moving Castle), most films by Tim Burton and The Princess Bride is one of my favourites!
Favorite TV Shows
I don't really watch television that much, so I'll have to think about this one.
Favorite Books
This is hard. I guess my favourite genres would be fantasy or historical fiction, but I will read anything including dictionaries, textbooks and the backs of cereal boxes. Some of my favourite books are: Slaughterhouse Five, Howl's Moving Castle, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, The Little Prince and The Portrait of Dorian Gray.
