Requests

Prefer penpals born before 1955. I mean, as in close to my age. If you're not over 70, I won't reply. Call me ageist. ;-) Update: and if you're under 65, I'll just go ahead and block you - no offense to young people. But when I want to talk to young people, I'll talk to my kids.

Language Exchange Requests

English, preferably fluent English. My feeble attempts at learning / speaking anything else are laughable. Of course, it's equally possible my feeble attempts at speaking English are laughable, but as to that, I couldn't say.

Hobbies & Interests

Hooked on history; currently working on a degree. (Update: degree achieved! as of June 2020.) I enjoy museums, historical sites, National Trust.

Favorite Music

Most everything - classic rock, Mozart, Jake Thackray, Beatles, genuine bluegrass, George Formby, opera, Dolly Parton, Simon & Garfunkel. "Eclectic." Some newer stuff.

Favorite Movies

Anything Disney. '50s, '60s. More recent ones, I enjoyed Dunkirk... Hacksaw Ridge... The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. Thoroughly enjoyed All Is True. And I liked Rocketman - weird in a Ken Russell's Tommy sort of way. "Killers of the Flower Moon."

Favorite TV Shows

Not many I watch “live.” I like documentaries, especially ones about archaeology / history. I try to watch anything Prof Alice Roberts is associated with. Most recent shows I've watched are "Alma's Not Normal" (I'm not a ginger, I'm not from Bolton, and I'm probably her Grandma's age, but I can identify) and "Ludwig" - now with a second season.

Favorite Books

A wide range of genres, both fiction and nonfiction. To paraphrase Will Rogers, “I seldom met a book I didn’t read.”
