My profile, years and years later, still holds up. I'm happy right now, living in Ho Chi Minh city with my girlfriend and her 2 daughters. I've had nothing but heartbreak and extreme work for many of the last several years. But it will tell a great story one day.::

I'm a self-employed pilot/instructor in Denver, CO, and also in Alaska.  Love music when I can find that rare gem.  Love movies usually something funny, meaningful, and thought provoking, like Matrix or how Cloud Atlas should have been without the vicious rage.  I've been a teacher all my life, as well as a friend.  I was raised to be a gentleman and to protect people and serve others.  I've studied emotional intelligence since 1997, but my little dog, Bakgu, a Maltese from Korea, has taught me more in our short time together than Daniel Goleman or the Dalai Lama have!

I'm a foodie, and have been teaching myself to cook for about 5 years now, but I rarely cook lately because it's just me anymore and I'm pursuing my other hobbies now.

Since 1999, I sponsor three orphaned infant girls: one in China, one in South Korea, one in the Philippines.  They make me feel like I have a family of my own.  Maybe I can visit the orphanages now...

Due to a lot of hard work, and also many recent tragedies, I am finally in a position to travel the world for almost free, as long as there is room on a US airline.  I can finally become a world citizen!!  I'm straining to throw myself headlong around the world and just get out of the US.  It's always last minute travel, as I have to wait to the very end to see if there's a seat available on the flight.  I have always been a planner, but am learning to embrace the chaos, it's all life seems to offer.  Travelling this way is like playing chess and also being simply lucky.  But it's worth it to meet new friends I hope to hang on to for life. 

I'm preparing myself to be able to travel to several places in Asia, or anywhere else, on less than a day's notice!

(P.S.  Saw Cloud Atlas on a flight to Thailand.  Superbly acted and directed, but the writer needs valium and anger management and Jung, and a conference with the Dalai Lama - utter crap.  Unnecessary.  My poor, gorgeous Bae Doona - Exquisite work!!!!  But you and your characters in this movie deserve everything so much more!)

I would like to make friends in each country I want to travel.  I'm looking for good conversation, and maybe some help learning your language, and definitely help learning your culture!  I also like to have people I can give back to if possible.  I can't wait to live and work in Asia again, and hope to retire there somewhere, someday.

Have a certificate to teach English as a Foreign Language, but I've yet to use it!
I've been trying to learn Cantonese for a trip to Hong Kong!  I will learn Mandarin later.  I've lived in Korea but keep forgetting Hangul due to lack of practice.  I'm presently focusing on Japanese for a trip next month to Japan and Thailand.  I hope to speak a little language of every country I like, and I hope to have penpals so that I will continue to learn and not forget things this time!

Flying, computers (but hate sitting at them too long!), Travel Travel Travel - to Asia!  Becoming a world citizen finally!  Studying 5 Asian languages now, and bad at all of them, and they're getting mixed up!  :-)

Dead Can Dance, Rush (Niel Peart), Huun-Huur-Tu, Oio, The American Dollar, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Jack White.  Any genre that has merit and originality and purity, usually from somewhere outside the US.  Anything by Yoko Kanno.  Newest addition:  Invincible - the movie trailer music, not the rapper.

Tampopo (favorite of all genres and countries!), Star Wars (my spiritual guide growing up), Linda Linda Linda, Emperor's New Groove, Bourne Identity, 3 Idiots (way better than it's title), Peaceful Warrior, the Matrix. ...and I've been a longtime fan of Bae Doo-na!

Haven't watched TV since 1995 and happy about that.  But watch DVDs from the library, mostly foreign.  If I have to choose, Big Bang Theory (at least the early seasons), Vicar of Dibley, Red Dwarf.  Just don't have time to sit around!
