About Me
I am a graduate student studying marine ecology. I grew up mainly in Arizona and Southern California in the USA. I have lived in Oregon for 8 years and truly enjoy the region, people and culture of the area.

During my undergraduate studies I minored in Japanese, but have not had the chance to travel or visit Japan (or any other country for that matter). I hope through interactions on this site I can learn more about the language and culture of Japan. That being said I am interested in any language and every culture. There always something that one can learn and I will not turn away an opportunity to do so.
Language Exchange Requests
Initially, my interests are oriented around polishing up my skills in Japanese. However, in reality, any language culture interest me. I am happy to speak to anybody that is willing to take the time to discuss their own culture with me.
Hobbies & Interests
I truly enjoy activities that are oriented around the ocean. I like scuba diving and kayaking here in the Pacific Northwest. I also am more than happy to take part in opportunities  crabbing, clamming, or spear fishing. I like hiking camping.

When at home I enjoy playing video games and nerding out on science fiction television and anime. I also enjoy discussion about philosophy and politics with my close friends. Being a graduate student means that most of these don't happen all that often and that most of my time is pent reading on issues in marine ecology and invasive species.
Favorite Music
I enjoy many different genres of music. Notably, I like swing, jazz, blue grass, folk, and heavy metal. However, those far from encompass the gambit of what I listen to. Some of my favorite artists are Tom Waits, Yoko Kanno, The Seatbelts, Gogol Bordello, Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.
Favorite Movies
A Clockwork Orange, The Prestige, Artificial Intelligence, Rocky Horror Picture Show, and many more. . .
Favorite TV Shows
Cowboy Bebop, Stargate SG-1, and Doctor Who.
Favorite Books
The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. Most anything by Stephen Baxter, C.S. Friedman. or Eric Brown. The Sand County Almanac is one of my favorites, as is Dante's Inferno.
