Thank you for the recommendation of Letter to Menedeo on the Happiness of Epicurus. I will look for a copy of it online. Unluckily my eyesight is quite bad these days, so I can't read printed books anymore, but online reading is still fine. I have got a copy of Marcus Aurelius's "Meditations" that I've been reading on and off. What do you think of it? How do you practise your English? Best wishes,

Hi Geni, "Teacher of philosophy" - that's wonderful. (Here's a question: Do French children realise how privileged they are to be taught philosophy at school? Don't worry about answering, it's just something that I sometimes wonder about.) But what I would like to know is where to start reading if I want to give myself a basic grounding in philosophy. If you feel like giving me a few tips I'd be very grateful. Apologies for not replying by letter.
