About Me
Hello!
My name is Delia, a girl of Greek and Spanish (Spain because I legit get asked which country) origin living in Canada. I'm 28 years old.
Please send me a message; it doesn't matter where you're from.
I just want to meet new people!

I work as a language teacher (I won't teach for free. But I will provide you resources and help you chat for free :D) and as a translator/interpreter.  I studied linguistics and localization, I recently graduated with my Master's degree. But I'm currently working like a donkey to save money and study Speech Language Pathology, or Audiology.

P.S.:
- If I'm late in answering, I'm probably not ignoring you. I try my best. I'm by no means perfect, but I try to be nice.
- Don't start with only a hello, or by calling me beautiful or anything like that. I probably won't answer.
- I speak English, French, Greek, Spanish and Catalan. My Italian is fairly good. I love learning foreign languages, and I'm currently attempting to learn German and Mandarin Chinese.
Requests
I want to practise German and Italian.
I lived in Italy (Trieste) for a year as a young teenager, and I would love to keep speaking it. It's not perfect and I have forgotten a lot, however I can still speak it fairly well.

Chinese is impossible to me, but if you speak it and can handle my super awkward way of speaking, my western errors and my mistakes, I'd give it a try.

My Russian is very basic, but I would love to speak it too. I'm interested in that language and also in other Slavic languages, but god they are hard to learn.

I want international friends.

Be respectful. In any case, I would talk with any nationality :)
Language Exchange Requests
I can offer you:
- French, English, Spanish, Greek (I speak all of these at a native or near-native level).
I can speak:
- Italian and Catalan.
I am actively learning:
- German and Mandarin Chinese.
I have notions of:
- Russian
Hobbies & Interests
Reading, travelling, hiking, languages, video games (currently obsessed with Stardew Valley), music (I play the clarinet and piano), drawing, writing. I recently started to learn some calligraphy. I'm terrible at it, but I really hope to write beautiful letters someday :D

As a child, I wanted to be a comic book writer. I kind of stopped dreaming about it, but I enjoy drawing and imagining short stories. Got many ideas for cartoons :D

I write short stories. This has replaced my cartoon frenzy as a kid. I'm not good at writing.. yet. Gotta say I prefer writing horror and mystery stories though. My comics and cartoons were more light hearted.

I also like science. I was never good at it, which is probably why I admire any scientist, be it a doctor, physicist, biologist, engineer etc.

I honestly appreciate any person that does their work seriously with appreciation and respect, whether it be art, science, social science, manual labour, languages, or even delivering pizza.
Favorite Music
Classical and Opera
Jazz
Ragtime
Gospel
Kind of old pop, especially in Spanish and Italian (I love Thalía, Raffaella Carrá, Adriano Celentano, Mina).
I also like oldies in many languages: Dean Martin, Doris Day (lots of memories with both my grandmas :D ), Charles Trénet, Charles Aznavour, Frank Sinatra, Édith Piaf, Pink Martini, The Manhattan Transfer.

My favourite opera is definitely Rigoletto by Verdi. Hands down. And Pavarotti and Callas voices.... Jesus Christ.

I also like musicals such as Roger and Hammerstein's Cinderella and West Side Story.

I love Flamenco Alegrías, too. I enjoy a lot of folk music as well, especially from Greece, Spain, Italy (Vitti 'na Crozza is one of the most beautiful, powerful songs I have ever heard, so if you are from Sicily, props for that song), Portugal (I love Amalia Rodrigues) South Africa, and many other countries.

I love music, and along with drawing, it was a big part of my life growing up. I play the clarinet and the piano. I don't remember many pieces, but I can still read music and enjoy playing once in a while.
Favorite Movies
I love animated movies, and honestly that is mostly what I watch. especially old ones like Snow White. Honestly, for being a movie from the 30's I think it's just WOW.
Other favourite movies:
- Pinocchio
- Coco
- Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (I love the animation!)
- Wall-E
- Atonement
- Luca
- West Side Story (the musical movie.... Especially the America part with George Chakiris and Rita Moreno).
Favorite TV Shows
I like cartoons and animation.
But also funny series and old shows:
- The nanny
- The office
Favorite Books
Great topic to talk about! I like reading, and attempt to read at least 12 books per year. Might not be too much, but I try. Here are some anyway:
- Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (Beth deserved better)
- The Count Of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas (Nah, revenge is a pretty good solution for some people)
- Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (Helen Burns also deserved better).
- The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoevsky (Honestly, stellar job of depicting characters. I think literally everyone identifies with Mishkin regardless of whether they are like him or not :) )
- Don Quixote (This book is also just great. Love how it plays with being crazy and being sane).
- The Neapolitan Novels by Elena Ferrante (I love those books. Although the characters are quite annoying sometimes, stellar job of depicting the struggles of most girls, and the hardships of each character).
Favorite Quotes
- “The  difficult we can do right away, the impossible takes a little longer.”
Mario Capecchi

- “Above all, be the heroine of your life, not the victim.”
Rita Levi Montalcini

- “It takes something more than intelligence to act intelligently.”
Fyodor Dostoyevsky

- “I know that I know nothing.”
Socrates

- “Gilda... Mia Gilda. É morta! Ah, la maledizione!”
Final line from Verdi's Rigoletto

I could go on and on :)
