To some people, I am gentle, soft-spoken
like warm tea in an open window.
To others, I am chaos — a fuse too close to a fire,
a storm with no warning signs.

To one person, I am a shoulder;
to another, I am a weight.
To some, I am a healer, and to others,
a wound they couldn’t name.

In one room, I am quiet;
in another, I don’t stop talking.
Some people think I am shy.
Others say I’m too much.
Both are right in their own way.

Some know me by the way that I leave.
Others only know the way that
I’ve stayed too long.
There are people who think I have saved them,
