I can hear when I did my best singing and when I didn't. It's incredible to re-listen to songs in which you clearly gave your all, and that's about emotions - as you said.
I'm still not sure how it works though.
Maybe you can pour emotions only in songs that really fit with your feelings, attitude and imagination.
