I'm Rachel.
I currently live on beautiful Vancouver island In a small, lovely community where walking to the grocery store without running into a familiar face is uncommon and surfing and fishing are the two most common reasons that people end up here.

I don't surf or fish.

But I live here for the warmer winters, the longer growing season, availability of food/herbs to forage, the sense of community, the connection to the forest and ocean. I  follow earth based spirituality and enjoy observing and following the wheel of the year.

I love to geek out about herbal remedies, Norse mythology and primitive skills. If you are into any of these things I would love to chat with you! I am currently learning about hypnotherapy, sell my beeswax candles, nature based craft and soaps at markets and am in the works of applying for my UK working holiday.


I have travelled on and off for 11ish years managing hostels and vacation properties, and am running away from tourism towards the plant world and foccusing more on my creative side these days. I love to be always learning and creating.

I ditch my phone often and sometimes have limited internet connection. Non commital, casual, medium length messages (a few times a week) seem to be the most enjoyable way for me to connect on here. If you are wanting instant/text-like messages, I am most likely not the penpal for you.

I am most curious about Scotland (Shetland and Oarkney islands especially) as well as Nordic countries as I plan to travel to these places soon and am interested in culture, reccomendations and  what it is like to live in these places
