I want to maximise positive serendipity in my life, because why not.
Fluent in three languages now, intermediate in another and a beginner in two more.
An ardent reader and a curious mind. Exploring The Pale Blue Dot via slow travel.
Language Exchange Requests
Focusing on Learning French.
Had learned German in Uni but forgotten most of it. Need to brush it up.
Want to learn Russian to read the Russian classics in the original.
And Turkish because I'm in the region and want to expose myself to the language and culture, see how that changes my perspectives on things. I'm curious about relativistic linguistics.
Hobbies & Interests
Books, non fiction and literary fiction mainly.
Movies - very much a recovering movie addict. Need to watch less and read more, but we do not the things we ought to do, do we? (update: currently reading 2-3 books a month and cut down on movies)
Travel. Long and slow travel instead of quick getaways to Instagram places.
Conversations with as many people as possible. Because minds are interesting.
Favorite Movies
Can't possibly have a list.
But then again:
Christopher Nolan, of course.
Martin Scorsese. Denis Villeneuve. Ari Aster. Lijo Jose Pellissery.
I used to be a huge Marvel fan, traveled 600 kms to watch those movies in IMAX and whatnot, but not such a huge fan these days. They should have ended it with Infinity War. Really, they should have.
Favorite TV Shows
In case you haven't heard of this: Devs. It's a miniseries, go watch it.
Favorite Books
Tough, but still:
Incerto series by Nassim Nicholas Taleb
One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman
Behave by Robert Sapolsky
Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl
The Gulag Archipelago by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
Favorite Quotes
'It is a bitter thought, how different a thing the Christianity of the world might have been, if the Christian faith had been adopted as the religion of the empire under the auspices of Marcus Aurelius instead of those of Constantine.' - John Stuart Mill
