Self-promotion is not one of my strong points. It would be more accurate to say that I avoid the thing alltogether if possible because it is what you do that shows what kind of a person you are, not what you say. Not that I can actually do something here and prove my worth so that gives me additional leverage.

But, not to be a complete scumbag I will try to type something more or less coherent.
I consider myself to be an extroverted introverter, always open to new people and new. On the other hand I really love my personal time and will remove myself from company just to get needed time for reflection and do whatever flies into my head.
And no, that does not mean that I make scrapbooks and such things. I'm in shock that you even thought about it.

I'm very picky about people who I decide to talk to. Really don't want to sound like an uptight balloon but the reason I'm using this site is to get a chance to meet people I wouldn't have a chance to otherwise meet.
I love brainy people who love using their heads (and no, that does not mean people who know a lot of facts but those with a strong wit and a tongue that matches it), people that tread outside things that are considered usual by "normal" standards, that aren't afraid of doing something outrageous or silly. Drifters, ramblers, vagabonds and lovers of life.

As everyone I consider myself to have a pretty darn good sense of humour. Unfortunately it's mostly irony and sarcasm that doesn't necessarily float well with most but not that I care.

Actually I do care when I come up with a great response and the person who it's aimed at doesn't get me and considers me either an evil person or an idiot. Pearls before swine I'd say..

I can be the nicest person you've met and the nastiest creature you had the misfortune to encounter. I also cultivate my inner child no matter what other say (the word would be a "kidult"), I'm constantly curious and amazed (for better or worse) by things happening around me. I'm passionate about life and everything that it's connected to.
I don't like idiots, especially those that love to flaunt their ignorance around, shallow people also fall into that category and those unwilling to learn a bit more about the world that surrounds them...

The philosophy I'm going by is "why not?"

You see? I hate describing myself, that's why I prefer getting to know people through correspondence, not like this...

The only real request I have is that you don't contact me if you don't have a habit of writing long(er) e-mails/letters. I like chatty people and I like the numb feeling in my hands after writing a very long and engaging mail/letter.

I've joined this site to meet like-minded individuals in search of a proper conversation and by "conversation" I mean conversation. Not civilities and mundane and mindless chatter.

But if you are a quasi-intellectual please veer away. I'm getting bored of the self-stroking manner you people speak in. If you think something is interesting, it probably isn't, if you consider your opinions being right and smart they surely aren't. Your lot has a habit of enjoying the sound of your words, words that are being thrown around only for the sake of feeding your ego and your elitism is something that should be punched, not rewarded.

I want to get to know interesting, passionate people, outspoken and those that are not afraid of thinking and learning, audacious ones that will not stop in pursuit of their dreams even in people around them disapprove, people who like being on the move instead of maintaining a status quo.

Passion and openess are the keys. Everything else doesn't deserve to be at the forefront.

If it looks like fun and seems interesting, I'm going at it...

So, so far I've tried all manner of sports and kept to some of them (table tennis, tennis, badminton, basketball, running, swimming, muay thai, hiking, bicycling..). I love keeping active in any way possible, right now I'm hoping to start with high altitude mountaineering. So yeah, I love the outdoors pretty much.

Besides that I'm very keen on music (even too passionate about that some times). I used to play bass and guitar but stopped it because I came to terms that I'm too lazy and not disciplined enough to make the extra effort. But I do sob inwardly when I go to a great gig and want to start again.
You'd think that that would make anyone motivated to start again but I'm not anyone so no.

Besides that I'm into photography, draw occasionally, write a bit, and in general keep my hands busy since I feel like having a skill nowadays is somehow of an lost art.

Speaking of which, I got interested into survival (no, eff you Grylls. I think you're an idiot) and DIY skills but I'm not progressing as quickly as I want.
I used to do a bit of medieval swordmanship to appease my inner child but I stopped when I came to conclusion that sharp pointy and incredibly long things whizzing around my head and limbs don't really hold the appeal they used to. Hopefully I'll get more chances for archery and knife throwing.

Yes, I'm not a girly-girl.

I'm a very keen traveler and I have a constant travel bug that is dissatisfied most of the time since I lack the funds to feed the darned thing.. Biologist don't earn much. Or anything for that matter.

And oh, I suck at juggling.. Have to work on that more.. And my gardening skills...

And I'd love to ride a motorcycle one day on long tour. Or just do long travelling tours. Yep, that's it.

I have always been almost obsessive about music. I listen to music wherever I go and whatever I do. It's like going through life with your personal soundtrack.

I hate putting tags on music and I don't like people who insist on them.
A good song is a good song regardless the genre or period. Music is like food, it needs to be diverse to keep you (at least here) mentally healthy.

I'm constantly on the lookout for new favourites that I never base on a certain genre or period. I've always stood with one foot firmly in rock music but the other one hops merrily from one genre to another be that folk, classical, math rock, hardcore punk or stoner rock.
The only thing I do avoid is most of popular music, it's not a way of showing myself as a snob but a lot of music that is considered to be mainstream is unimaginative and soulless and I want my music to channel the thoughts and emotions of the artist, not the money hoarding tendencies of the machinery.

And also, often the most interesting and precious things are hidden or at least you have to work a bit more to find them...

You know when you are a kid and people ask you what would you want to do when you grow up and the answers go in succession an astronaut, explorer, circus artist and so on? Well I always added "director" to that. Isn't it nice to see how your child dreams crumble in front of you?

So, I had to start with a different approach. If I'll never be able to make a movie at least I can admire people who make them and make them well.

Watching a great movie with a wonderful story is one of joys in life and I'm constantly running around the theaters that are showing things that don't fall always in the "Hollywood movie" category but I'd be lying through my teeth if I said I don't watch those. Because I do.

Watch, not lie.

I love stories about outsiders and anti-heroes in general. Movies that leave me with questions and start discussions also. One that are not easily forgotten and that aren't made to make two hours pass when you have nothing better to do.
I want to feel exhilirated, shocked, bemused and generally touched by them no matter if the things depicted are happy or sad. I like being captivated in my seat and if I'm wide eyed afterwards and I want to discuss the topics covered over numerous cups of coffee then I believe the movie has done what it needs to.

I'm also a very visual person and I love movies that aren't afraid to be bold in that aspect.

So as with books and music, I don't care about tags and genres as long as the product leaves my jaw on the floor in satisfaction.

I've stopped watching TV in the past couple of months so I'm really not up to date with most of the things that are out there. But my tastes haven't changed, I'm still into black, sarcastic humour, observational comedy, a good sci-fi or a history themed show..

And this is a nice way to say thank you to internet because it gave me the opportunity to make my own "tv" program. Thank you wonderful, wonderful internet. If I could lie beneath your feet believe me I would.

I'm a bookworm, that's almost a dirty word nowadays but I flaunt my vices around.
Like with music I don't make favourites lists because I could never do any justice to the books I like that way. I don't stick to one genre, I read fiction and non-fiction books equally (oh no, that's a lie it's more 2:1 in favour of fiction to be honest).

The only thing I absolutely despise are cheap romance novels and "chick literature". I get violent around those things.
