My attempt at a Tanka:

Autumn leaves grow crisp,
Yellow and red, drifting down,
Floating on a breeze.
Gently resting, nestled close,
Waiting for the winter snow.

Tanka part 2:

Trees stand barren, tall.
Frostbite reaches out its claws.
Coating grass and tree,
Freezing all who touch its grace.
Only for the spring, we wait.
