korealang 's notes

My friend said "The Korean pronunciation is very very difficult".
so I write  this.
Because I am a native speaker,
I think the Korean pronunciation is very ultra mega easy. :)

U can think it's very easy by reading this.
I long for you to feel that's ease. :)

Ok.  let's start !!!

Korean has vowels & consonants
(First, don't think double vowels & double consonants
--I'll tell  about this next time)

                     (vowels)  <10>
ㅏ     ㅑ     ㅓ       ㅕ      ㅗ     ㅛ     ㅜ         ㅠ     ㅡ     ㅣ
(a)   (ya)  (eo)  (yeo)   (o)   (yo)   (u)     (yu)   (eu)    (i)

                   (consonants) <14>

    ㄱ            ㄴ         ㄷ          ㄹ          ㅁ           ㅂ          ㅅ
(g) or (k)     (n)        (d)      (r)or(l)     (m)      (b)or(p)    (s)or(t)

    ㅇ               ㅈ          ㅊ         ㅋ         ㅌ         ㅍ         ㅎ
(-)or(-ng)      (j)         (ch)       (k)          (t)         (p)        (h)

korean has  only  two  type.(let's say  these  type A &  type B-it's just my naming)

consonant + vowel                        ---------type A
consonant + vowel+ consonant       ------ type B

in type B, last consonant is located under (conaonant+wowel).

ex)
  type A                              type B

ㄱ+ ㅏ  = 가                ㄱ+ㅏ+ㄱ   = 각

ㄴ+ ㅏ  = 나                ㄴ+ㅏ+ㄴ   = 난

ㄷ+ ㅏ  = 다                ㄷ+ㅏ+ㄴ   = 단

Yes!!!   there are  many combinations of both.

                         type A

                        type B
...so  many,  I can't  type all.
ex)

it's just  a  row of "ㅏ"   hahaha

Oh~~Don't  worry!!! .

we  use  only some words.

it's just combination.

and u can pronounce every word  easily.   don't  worry.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The  basic  combination  is

가    나   다   라   마    바  사   아  자   차   카    타   파   하   ----type   A

we pronounce  that
(ga) (na) (da) (ra) (ma) (ba) (sa) (a) (ja) (cha) (ka)(ta) (pa) (ha)

repeat  it  100 times~~:)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

u  know,  there  are two pronunciation sign on some consonants.

      ㄱ                   ㄹ                   ㅂ              ㅇ                   ㅅ
(g) or (k)          (r)or(l)           (b)or(p)     (-)or(-ng)              (s)or(t)

they are prononced by the former  in type A   -----(g) (r) (b) (-) (s)

so when  they meet ㅏ (a)
they  are    가(ga)  라(ra)  바(ba)  아 (a).사(sa)

       나    다        마           자   차      카    타   파   하
(ga) (na) (da) (ra) (ma) (ba) (sa) (a) (ja) (ka) (cha) (ta) (pa) (ha)

hmmm.....
what is  the  latter(k,l,p,-ng,t)?
they are  used  in  type B.

ㄱ+ㅏ   is  type A   , so we say  가 (ga)
and

ㄱ+ㅏ + ㄱ is  type  B  ,  so  we  say 각 (g)+(a)+(k) =(gak)
(first ㄱ is  still (g),  third ㄱ is  (k))

ㅂ+ㅏ+ㅂ =밥    is    (bap)

ㄱ+ㅏ+ㄹ =갈    is    (gal)

ㄹ+ㅏ+ㄹ =랄    is    (ral)

ㄱ+ㅏ+ㅇ =강    is    (gang)
ㄱ+ㅏ+ㅅ =갓   is    (gat)

what's pronunciation  of  맘  ???

yes !!!  it's  not  (ㄱ,ㄹ,ㅂ,ㅇ,ㅅ),  so  it's  just (m)

맘=ㅁ+ㅏ+ㅁ    (m+a+m=mam)

that's  all.

some  exercise!!!!!

1)  가다  =  ㄱ+ ㅏ    ㄷ + ㅏ     wow   both are Type A   , so   (ga) (da)
    (go)

2)  기다  = ㄱ+ㅣ  ㄷ+ ㅏ     (gi) (da)
   (creep)

3)  바다  = ㅂ+ㅏ  ㄷ+ ㅏ     (ba) (da)
   (sea)

ok.   try   type B.

4)  난다 =ㄴ+ㅏ+ㄴ     ㄷ+ㅏ   (nan)(da)

ㄴ  is  not (ㄱ ㄹ ㅂ ㅇ  ㅅ)  so  it's  just  (n)

ok  try  (ㄱㄹ ㅂ ㅇㅅ)!!!

5)  길다   = ㄱ+ㅣ+    ㄷ+ㅏ        (gil)(da)
    (long)

        길  is  type B, 다 is  type A.

      so  ㄱ(g)+ㅣ(i)+ ㄹ(l)    =(gil)

do u  remember?

(r)or(l)

yes.  this  is  type B   so  it's pronunciation  is (l).

hmmm.....I didn't major in  korean.(Mine  is economics ㅜ.ㅜ)
so my explanation   has no specialty.

but  I'm  korean :)

anyway   if  u  have  any questions of  this, don't hesitate to ask  me.XD

I will write about double vowels & double consonants next  time.

bye~~
